THIS IS A WEDDING, RIGHT?
IT'S A WEDDING, JUST WITHOUT THE 'WEDDING BIT'.
In a departure from tradition, we are taking care of the paperwork in the days before, which means we can skip right to the fun part. Even though we’ve already said the “I do’s”, the event is still very much in the wedding spirit! There’ll be plenty of food, drinks, music, questionable dance-floor decisions and, most importantly, a very good excuse to get everyone together. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
THE ESSENTIALS
DATE + TIME
FRIDAY 23 APRIL 2027
6:30 - 11:30pm
We will arrive a little after 6:30pm to make a somewhat, grand-ish entrance, but if you could be there at 6:30pm, that would be great.

MCA AUSTRALIA
'The Sculpture Terrace', Level 4
Museum of Contemporary Art Australia
140 George St, The Rocks NSW 2000
The George Street or Harbourside entrances will both get you where you need to be. Follow signs to The Sculpture Terrace / Canvas Restaurant, located on level 4 of the MCA complex. You will see an event sign outside the event space.
DRESS CODE
'COCKTAIL'
We are assured by the internet that ‘cocktail dress code’ refers to “a polished, semi-formal look that is elegant and dressy without being overly formal. Ladies may wear cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits, or stylish separates. While suits, collared shirts, tailored trousers or chinos are ideal for men - jackets & ties are optional…”.

KIDS?
BUT WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN?
We adore your little ones, but our wedding celebration will be an adults-only event. Consider this your official excuse to organise a babysitter, put on something fabulous and enjoy a night off! We hope this gives everyone the opportunity to relax, let their hair down a bit and enjoy the evening celebrating with us - thanks for understanding.

Having you there to celebrate with us is truly all we could wish for - especially for those who hail from abroad! However, If you insist, we have a wishing well that will go towards our seemingly endless home renovation. We feel incredibly lucky to have everything we need, though we’d love to be able to get the ‘fancy tiles’.

The evening of the celebration is the Friday before the ANZAC Day public holiday long weekend. If you would like to stay close by to the venue, we would recommend sourcing accommodation sooner rather than later to avoid missing out.
A number of the larger chains have hotels in and around the Rocks and Circular Quay areas, however there a lots of boutique hotel options in the CBD and Surry Hills.
(POTENTIAL PUBLIC NUDITY AHEAD)
Will the groom be re-enacting the infamous Maitland Mile you ask? Fortunately not, but some of the sculptures are a bit…ahem…risqué.

The ‘Sculpture Terrace’ at the MCA is home to the Loti Smorgon Sculpture Terrace Commission, an ongoing annual program where different artists present their sculptural works for 12 months at a time. This season’s piece is Holding Both, by Nell, which features a life-size, bronze representation of a woman holding aloft a stick and two suspended glass ghosts. And as previously referenced - she is in-fact nude.

If this offends your sensibilities, maybe just look away? We can’t do anything about it. She’ll be there until next September.

If you would like to know more about this piece or the artist, you can check out the MCA exhibition site.
